    MAY DAY IN CAIRO. THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR FESTIVAL BEGAN WITH A PROCESSION THROUGH THE STREETS OF THE CITY. IN THE EVENING A RALLY WAS ADDRESSED BY PRESIDENT NASSER.

    THOUSANDS OF WORKERS TOOK PART IN THE PROCESSION. MANY COLOURFUL FLOATS, MOST DECORATED WITH FLOWERS, WERE PRESENTED BY TRADE UNIONS AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS.

    IN HIS ADDRESS IN THE EVENING, PRESIDENT NASSER CRITICISED THE RECENT REMARKS ON THE PALESTINE ISSUE MADE BY PRESIDENT BOURGUIBA OF TUNISIA. PRESIDENT NASSER SAID THE REMARKS HAD "COME AS A FIERCE SHOCK TO THE ARAB NATION," AT A TIME WHEN THE ARAB PEOPLES WERE FACING ATTEMPTS "TO LIQUIDATE THE PALESTINE QUESTION WHILE ISRAEL GETS ARMS."
    PRESIDENT NASSER, WHOSE SPEECH WAS BROADCAST LIVE OVER CAIRO RADIO, WENT ON TO SPEAK OF THE "QUEER WORDS" OF THE TUNISIAN LEADER. HIS PROPOSALS, SAID PRESIDENT NASSER, MEANT CO-EXISTENCE WITH ISRAEL, RECOGNITION OF ISRAEL, AND FRIENDLY RELATIONS WITH ISRAEL.
