INDONESIA, CONTINUING HER AGGRESSIVE POLICY TOWARDS MALAYSIA, AIRDROPPED ABOUT 30 INDONESIAN COMMANDOS INTO THE LABIS AREA, SOUTHERN MALAYA, AT DAWN ON WEDNESDAY. THE DISTRICT OF LABIS IS ABOUT 100 MILES SOUTH-EAST OF KUALA LUMPUR, THE MALAYSIAN CAPITAL, AND IS SURROUNDED BY RUBBER PLANTATIONS, HILLY JUNGLE AND SWAMPLANDS.

MALAYSIAN SECURITY FORCES, SUMMOND TO THE SCENE, KILLED FOUR INDONESIANS AND CAPTURED SEVERAL OTHERS, INCLUDING A FEW MALAYAN DEFECTORS. TWO OTHER MALAYSIANS FOUND ACTING SUSPICIOUSLY IN THE AIRDROP AREA WERE ALSO DETAINED FOR QUESTIONING. ONE SECURITY FORCE MEMBER WAS KILLED AND ANOTHER WOUNDED.

A 24-HOUR CURFEW WAS IMPOSED IN THE LABIS DISTRICT. ALL TRAFFIC ON THE MAIN ROAD BETWEEN KUALA LUMPUR AND SINGAPORE WAS STOPPED AND THOROUGHLY SEARCHED BY POLICE AND TROOPS MANNING ROADBLOCKS.

THE INDONESIAN COMMANDOS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS MEMBERS OF THE PASOKAN GERAK TJEPAT, THE COMMANDO BRIGADE FORMED FOR THE INVASION OF WEST IRIAN, FORMERLY DUTCH-HELD WEST GUINEA. THEY WERE AIRDROPPED FROM A HERCULES C130 TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT WHICH TOOK OFF FROM DJAKARTA, THE INDONESIAN CAPITAL. THE PLANE FLEW LOW AND DROPPED FLARES FROM ABOUT 1,000 TO 1,500 FEET (300 - 400 METRES) BEFORE THE PARATROOPERS DROPPED.

SECURITY FORCES SEIZED FROM THE DEAD AND CAPTURED INDONESIANS SEVERAL AMERICAN-MADE MORTARS, RIFLES AND LIGHT MACHINE-GUNS. LARGE WOODEN CRATES, CONTAINING WELL PACKED BOXES OF RATIONS, RAW RICE, INDONESIAN CIGARETTES, SWEET MEAT (WITH WORDS OF WAR AND PEACE WRITTEN ON THE OUTSIDE), MEDICINE, FIRST AID KITS AND LIGHT ARMS AMMUNITION WERE ALSO RECOVERED.

THE AIRDROP SPARKED OFF A ROW IN THE UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL YESTERDAY (THURSDAY) WHERE MALAYSIA ACCUSED INDONESIA OF "BLATANT AND INEXCUSABLE AGGRESSION" AND DEMANDED URGENT ACTION BY THE COUNCIL TO RELIEVE THE TENSE SITUATION IN THE AREA. THE CHIEF MALAYSIA DELEGATE HAS ASKED THAT THE II-MEMBER COUNCIL BE CONVENED NEXT TUESDAY, TO PERMIT A SPECIAL DELEGATION FROM KUALA LUMPUR TIME TO ARRIVE FOR THE MEETING.

MALAYSIA TODAY ANNOUNCED EMERGENCY REGULATIONS AMOUNTING TO MARTIAL, LAW AND IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT TWO BATTALIONS OF BRITISH COMMONWEALTH TROOPS WERE PREPARING TO GO INTO ACTION AGAINST INDONESIAN INFILTRATORS ON THE MALAYAN MAINLAND.

THEY WILL RELIEVE MALAYSIAN FORCES BEING TRANSFERRED TO SINGAPORE WHERE EIGHT PEOPLE HAVE DIED AND ABOUT 60 INJURED IN RIOTING SINCE WEDNESDAY.

THE TWO COMMONWEALTH BATTALIONS PREPARING TO ENGAGE THE INDONESIANS - A GURKHA UNIT OF THE BRITISH ARMY AND A NEW ZEALAND REGIMENT - FORM PART OF THE COMMONWEALTH BRIGADE STATIONED IN MALACCA, WESTERN MALAYA.

IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE NEW ZEALANDERS WILL GO TO PONTAIN, ON MALAYA'S SOUTH-WEST COAST, WHERE ABOUT 100 INDONESIANS LANDED ON AUGUST 17TH. AND THE GURKHA UNIT WILL GO TO LABIS ISLAND, WHERE THE RECENT PARTY OF INDONESIANS LANDED.

A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL CONFIRMED LAST NIGHT THAT OF THE 30 INDONESIANS WHO LANDED AT LABIS, FOUR HAD BEEN KILLED AND FIVE CAPTURED.
