German newsreel item. Title reads: Die Jubilaums-Box."
VS The quayside of Bremen Harbour where a small ceremony is taking place to celebrate the 100,000th freight container to be unloaded by the docks, narrowly beating Hamburg. Miss Weser (possibly Miss Bremen?) attends the ceremony and poses for photographers. A city dignitary presents a key to a man who breaks a bottle of champagne on the 100,000th container. A band, part of the Bremen Jubilee, play the ceremony out as the container is unloaded onto the waiting lorry.
Note: Date on original record: 18/11/1968. This item is celebrating the revolution in transportation which came in with the introduction of container transport. It reduced labour costs, required no warehousing and was faster than previous types of transport and packaging.
