Albert Einstein failed maths at school
This myth has been doing the rounds for the last 100 years. It has probably been perpetuated by over enthusiastic school maths teachers to give their pupils some hope they have a mathematical brain or are hiding their genius under a bushel. However, when someone showed Einstein the article that claimed he had failed maths, Albert's response was, "I never failed in mathematics... Before I was fifteen I had mastered differential and integral calculus." Who even knows what this is?! So sadly Einstein didn't slowly grow in to a genius, he was always one.

My understanding is that Einstein had trouble with math...but the math he had trouble with was so far beyond any ordinary mortal that it's somewhat misleading to say he "had trouble with math."
