First video of the Royal Barge
King Edward VII arrives at Eton via the medium of Royal Barge in 1904. It's quite astonishing that British Pathe filmed this over 100 years ago. Eton boys stand in other various boats with raised oars to greet The King.
1904 was a big year for Edward VII. He was nicknamed 'Uncle Europe' by the press due to his dedication towards ending Anglo-French rivalry in order to improve Britain's trade with the rest of Europe.
The King didn't attend Eton himself although of course it is just around the corner from Windsor Castle.
