Streatham, London. A racehorse owned by 10 year old Michael Seward trains for the Grand National. Horse's name "Michael's Pearl". MS LS the horse racing along a track, in what looks like a park, with a stable companion. MS the horses cross a main road and walk amid the traffic in the town. CU Michael leading him out of his stable. CU Michael standing by the horse's head to talk to Pathe's John Parsons (nat sound). MS Michael leads him to a mobile horse box. CU back view of the boy waving goodbye as the van drives off.

Story of ex-Corporal Harry Nicholls VC, he had to apply for public assistance. MS Nicholls, in his uniform walks down the road and knocks on the door of his house. CU he kisses his wife and little daughter. CU the daughter takes the Victoria Cross out of its case while his wife. seated in another chair watches. CU Nicholls making a leather bag. CU He walks out of the Post Office, where he has drawn his pension accruing from the VC. CU his hands counting the money. MS his wife working at a sewing machine.
