  • Amazing, that I am the first person to post a comment here. That I feel totally inadequate to be able to say something that is comparable to this mans life, well, I won't even try. But if I were able to meet, Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill, KG, OM, CH, TD, DL, FRS, RA , then, I would like to say... Sir. It is my Honour to meet you. That this man has made mistakes, is human. That this man arose, and stirred those around him, to defeat an enemy that was about to................. as I said... Sir. It is my Honour to meet you.

  • Were I to meet him, I would simply say 'Sir, thank you for my life'. For without his leadership during World War II, I might never have been born six years after the end of that war.

I remember watching his funeral live as a 14-year-old boy and being touch by it all. We shall never see its like again: nor his. The commentator was right when he compared Sir Winston as Mount Everest to rolling hills.

Verbal warfare at its best. Here are some of history's greatest retorts and snarling insults. These people certainly didn't mince their words!
