MS men getting their dogs ready for race. Men hold the dogs at the start while other men show them the white cloth they will be running towards; shaking the cloth around in front of the dogs; and backing up; dogs bark. Slow pan right on 4 dogs at start. The men pick up dogs holding back legs higher; and at the given second; they throw dogs forward on track - dogs take off running! Next; same thing - start of another race; with wet muddy ground. This time shot from behind the starting line; so better view of men lifting and flinging dogs.
MS other men in distance waving white cloths (goes blank - camera problem). MS as men run with white cloths towards end of field (& camera). They shake cloths; beat against ground. Dogs come running at a very fast speed MS field; with stands of spectators in background, man in foreground plays with dog; each have end of cloth and the dog is hanging from it with feet off ground; man turns round; dog spins. Man picks up dog in arm; walks off. Cart racing (trotting). Ponies pull carts in through gate (these 'carts' are just for racing - 2 wheeled; barely hold a small man on their tiny seat). MS track & stands. MS race in progress. CU group of men surrounding a bookmaker who is writing odds on board.
Festival; with boys' dance contest and donkey race. 5 boys about age 10 dance a jig on a small platform in park. MS three doing the same. Children race on donkeys across park; with crowd standing in background; other children run along. The children have switches which they apply to varying degrees; some are really whacking those beasts. Cruelty to animals. Donkey riders coming through opening in crowd; round a corner again.
