Various shots of a specially constructed lorry belonging to the Road Research Laboratory, testing a section of road for its skid resistance. The vehicle, looking like a small tanker, is fitted with a 'fifth wheel' in the middle, which can be lowered onto the road surface for the tests. On applying a braking force to this wheel, road skid resistance can be measured on the complicated equipment carried on the lorry. Water is also seen to be sprayed under the wheel for wet conditions.
