Terrorism is nothing new. The Pathe archive has a vast collection of material related to terrorist attacks dating back to 1919 right through to the 2005 London bombings.
The death penalty has been carried out in almost all societies and although these images from WWI and WWII are unsettling, they still provide a raw account of events from a certain time.

The first car seen (Reg. No. UV 6520), is a 4.5 litre Bentley.
"Mr L Pomeroy" is Laurence Pomeroy.
The "1908 Hutton" is a famed 2-seater racing car called "Little Dorrit", and was the winner of the Isle of Man TT in 1908.
"1913 Vauxhall" should read 1914 Vauxhall.
The Lanchester (Reg. No. K 6731), is a 1913 Lanchester 38hp Torpedo Tourer.
The car seen at 02:20, (Reg. No. YR 509), is a 3-litre Bentley.
Then at 02:23, the car with Reg. No. DB 6390 is an Alvis 12/50.
The event the cars were setting off for was called the VMCCA Rally (Vintage Motor Car Club of America). That event took place on 27 April 1927.
