    Victor Emmanuel greeted at Fiume for annexation ceremony.

    The Italian King Victor Emmanuel III is greeted w/ enthusiasm at Fiume when he arrives for the annexation ceremonies. King's car driving up street lined w/ soldiers; flags mounted on buildings. People in 2 lines;forming a V; w/ children on one side; soldiers on other; festive decorations overhead. Fairly close shot people walking carrying various flags. Wide shot looking across courtyard at King & others on balcony.

    More people marching. Wide shot: crowd in FG on lower level w/ wall behind them; in BG on upper level street; more people waving & cheering; across st; a large white bldg. w/ much decoration. After World War One; both Italy and the new state of Yugoslavia wanted Fiume (also called Rijeka); it was first declared a free city; then Italy got it in 1924; though after WWII it was transferred to Yugoslavia. Royalty.
