  • The festival ran from 19 August - 4 September 1948.

    "Andreotti" is Giulio Andreotti. Here's a photo of him at the festival (oddly enough with the next person to be mentioned in the shots list, Anna Magnani).....

    "Zanuck's daughter" - her name is Darrilyn.

    "Lagune" in final paragraph should read Laguna.

    "Lea Padonvani", line 8 of final para, should read Lea Padovani.

    "GW Pabst" is Georg Wilhelm Pabst, (which is how he seems to be credited in his films).

    "Andreottie" in final paragraph should read Andreotti.

British Pathe captured many extraordinary events on film over its 80 year history but sometimes the cameras were switched on when tragedy struck.
