  • While the cameraman is in Lucerne we see shots of Lake Lucerne (der Vierwaldstättersee), and the ancient Kapellbrucke (Chapel Bridge).

    "Vegis" should read Weggis.

    "Acksenstrasse" should read Axenstrasse.

    "Fluellan" should read Fluelen.

    "Outdorf" should read Altdorf.

"Susstern Pass" should read Susten Pass.

"Vendenbassen" certainly isn't right, but I don't know what it should be. As it's a viaduct, passing over water, it'll be something Wasser, perhaps Venden Wasser, or Wenden Wasser.

While in Interlaken, at 11:23, the camera shows the three main mountains of the region, namely the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau.

"Blausse" should read Blausee, (meaning "Blue Lake").

"Col du Pion" should read Col du Pillon.

    "Yvonand" should read Yvorne.

At 13.57, just outside Montreux, the camera shows the Chateau de Chillon.

N.B. All the place names need altering in the tags as well as in the shots list.

British Pathe captured many extraordinary events on film over its 80 year history but sometimes the cameras were switched on when tragedy struck.
