Turkish troops in the Balkan War; circa 1912 (in which the Turks were driven out of European part of their empire; by Bulgarians etc.). Opens w/ several Turkish soldiers by railway tracks; w/ several wagons of train tipped over. CU - dark- spooky scene - 3 men stand under trees; 1 w/ bandaged head which looks like blindfold; the man next to him wears cloak w/ hood; another man enters; gives them each something.
Then pan on 4 other men; in civilian dress - or at least all wear different clothing; standing by a group of oxen hitched up to wagons piled w/ boxes etc. 2 peasant women walk past with big white scarves wrapped round their heads and necks; 1 carries small child. (Turkish refugees leaving home?)
Group of soldiers standing about; some sitting on ground; others standing; pan left to small covered wagons! Pan left on another group of soldiers; who are watching 2 of them fencing with sticks in a friendly fight; smiling & laughing; raising the sticks overhead.
