  • The aircraft seen here is a Short Mayo Composite. It was the only example of its type ever built.

    The shots lists currently states that "This plane is designed to ride as a twin on top of another plane" - actually, it should be the other way round, this plane was designed to have a smaller plane ride on top of it.

  • Footage of the aircraft actually piggy-backing a smaller plane in 1938 can be seen in clip 955.48. Then, footage of the pilots chatting can be seen in clip 953.41.
