The old train is running alongside what looks like the more modern LMS train 'Coronation'...

  • The first locomotive seen is The Liverpool and Manchester Railway (later LMS) engine No. 57, "Lion".

    What is currently described as "LMS train Coronation" is the George the Fifth Class locomotive number 25348, "Coronation".

    Also featuring heavily in the clip, and currently not documented, is the streamlined Coronation Class locomotive number 6225, "Duchess of Gloucester".

    What we are seeing here was LMS celebrating 100 years of steam - the event took place in September 1938.
