    Panning shot of empty Lord's Cricket Ground. Camera continues to pan showing cricketers practising their techniques in the nets. Low angle shot of man mowing grass in nets. L/S of worker climbing over fence in stands. Various shots of the empty ground being prepared for a match. Stands are being swept. Witch's type broom propped up against a gate. Various shots of empty stands. Shots of cricketers in nets. Possibly members of the Essex County Cricket team (to be confirmed). Bowling and batting techniques are demonstrated. Some C/Us of ball being rubbed against trousers and shirt of bowler. C/Us of feet as run up to bowl. Players in nets.

    A frequently seen clapperboard during the piece bears the filming date of 19 April 1971.

    Viewed as stills it looks to us like 77 rather than 71, though it's not perfectly clear.

    Yes, I'll go with you on the 1977 date, the hairstyles look much more 77 than 71!

    The shots list suggest that this might be the "Essex County cricket team" - it is however, Middlesex. This can be determined by the badges on the jumpers, by the fact that the footage is shot at Lords, (Middlesex's home ground), and also because one of the players seen frequently throughout the clip is long-time Middlesex servant John Emburey.
