Princess visits the Cathedral and is presented with a bouquet of the red roses of Lancaster. Bells of the Cathedral are rung for the first time.

Lord Street is seen in an old photograph, and as it is "today." Junction of Rice Lane and Queens Drive seen in an old and a current still photograph. The original old Philharmonic Hall contrasted with how it looks today. Home of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society. High angle photograph of the pier head. The new pier head is seen. Various Liverpool landmarks are seen. Voiceover states that Liverpool was the home for the first Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the first school for the blind and the first school of tropical medicine. Various shots of buildings in Liverpool City centre and street scenes with majestic music rising to a crescendo as Liverpool's achievements are listed.
