Because Liverpool had relied on the Maritime trade it was decided that other trades should be developed in case of any further lapse in world trade. Shots of foundries, factories, industry, machinery etc.

Tommy Handley pays a visit to his mother in Liverpool. She sits at a tea table in her garden. He gives her a gift - looks like a bottle of Johnnie Walker whisky! He also gives her some nylons. Other comedians are featured. Arthur Askey comes out of his house wearing a woman's apron. He puts his milk bottles out and wipes his hands on his apron. He realises that he is being filmed, looks embarrassed and goes back into his house. Billy Bennett is seen going into a money lenders. He comes out, tosses a coin and decides to go for a drink. Robb Wilton is next. He performs a short sketch about a hippopotamus. Ted Ray is seen playing golf.

Pioneer spirit. 1947 - Mersey Docks and Harbour Board Port Radar Station is featured. Sign at the Radar Station then the interior. First Port Radar station at Seaforth. Radar operators are featured. Various shots of the men at work and of the exterior of the Station.

1950 - Various shots of football match between Liverpool and Everton and spectators. C/U of a rosette pinned to a spectators lapel: "Come On the Toffees." Tilt up to show the football fan's face - looks like he is chewing a toffee himself. Shots of the crowd waving and cheering. C/U of referee blowing the whistle. John A. Brodie who was from Liverpool invented the football net. Various shots of Liverpool vs Arsenal match at Wembley. The final - Liverpool lost to Arsenal. Reg Lewis scores the first goal. Albert Stubbins misses a good chance to equalise. Billy Liddle is mentioned, and the Arsenal goalkeeper Swindon. Mercer and Denis Compton, Cox and Lewis set up a goal. Joe Mercer accepts the cup from King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (later Queen Mother).
