    Title reads: "This Day - April 22nd". Short Documentary film about events around that date throughout the century.

    Apr 1921 - Various shots of the Miners' strike. Naval ratings come to pits to take up work mining coal. People measuring and gathering coal (not clear if 1921 or 1926). VS of pit ponies being used in race.
    Apr 1922 - VS of Jack Dempsey boxing on deck of ship and signing autographs.
    Apr 1929 - Film star Betty Balfour chooses a bow legged body guard.
    Apr 1924 - King George V and Queen Mary open the Wembley Exhibition.
    Apr 1931 - King Alphonso of Spain prior to his abdication. VS of revolutionaries in streets. Alphonso leaves for exile.
    Apr 1949 - Eire leaves the Empire. President Sean O'Kelly hoists the Tricolour flag. Large parade to celebrate becoming a Republic.
    Apr 1948 - Riots in Bogota, Colombia. Anarchy follows assassination of Colombian Liberal Party leader Dr Gatan. Body of assassin lies in the street. Lots of rioting scenes.
    Apr 1949 - Celebrations as Sweets are removed from the ration. Nice shots of people eating lots of sweets.


    Apr 1947 - Blowing up of German naval base of Heligoland. Lots of explosions and detonations as the island fortress is blown up.
    Apr 1945 - Enthronement of Archbishop of Canterbury - Dr. Geoffrey Fisher. First time this ceremony was filmed.
