  • Short Summary

Unusual story showing Oxford's female rowing team.

  • Description

    Putney, London.

Title: "Then Lupino Lane, with his 'New Oxford Eight' 'turned up'!"

M/S of a group of women from Oxford University carrying a rowing eight down a small beach to the River Thames. M/S of the women posing in front of the water, each holds an oar, they all wear skimpy shorts and cricket sweaters. M/S of the girls climbing into the boat at the edge of the river; they mince delicately along a small jetty to get to the rowing eight. M/S of the girls sitting in the boat holding the oars as if they are about to start rowing, they giggle a lot! L/S of the girls rowing down the river.

Note: the women seem very glamorous and giggly - may be there more as a promotional ploy than as genuine sportswomen.

Note: for shots of the men's Oxford and Cambridge rowing teams, please see record for THE RIVAL BLUES (version 1 of 2).
