Full title reads: "Guildford. The Mayor Makes The Plunge. Alderman W Harvey - after opening magnificent new swimming pool and sunbathing beach - quickly discards Mayoral Robes to be first to be in the water."

    Guildford, Surrey.

The Mayor of Guildford makes a speech opening the new swimming bath. His swimming costume can just be seen beneath his robes. He asks other swimmers to join him once his head comes above the surface.

Another local dignitary makes a joke and waves a small lifebelt in the air.

The Mayor takes off his robe and dives into the water to many cheers. He is quickly joined by other swimmers.

Various shots of people swimming in the new pool. A crowd are lining the edge of the pool.
