M/S horses paraded around enclosure by trainers, and watched by the crowd. M/S as the jockeys are helped into saddle by officials. One jockey gets a leg up. The horses are led towards the start past a huge crowd lining the rails and stands. The runners mill about and line up at the start.

A number of horses fall at canal turn fence with crowds watching, and people on top of a stationary train on an embankment.
