Title reads: "Duchess of Gloucester launches a cruiser".

    Location of events unknown.

Various shots of Duchess of Gloucester standing on platform near hull of ship. Crowds watch. She looks quite nervous. C/U of Duchess speaking with man (looks like some kind of official / dignitary). We hear the man politely giving instructions to the Duchess on what she must do for the launch.

Panning shot of crowd singing hymn - "For Those in Peril of the Sea". C/U of Duke of Gloucester (Prince Henry) watching his wife, he wears Naval uniform. M/S of Duchess singing. Panning shot of ship on the slipway.

C/U of Duchess, with help from dignitaries, smashes bottle of champagne against the hull. She makes speech naming the ship 'Gloucester'. She then hits a button with a mallet, releasing ship. Various shots, taken on deck of ship, as it slides down slipway into the sea. C/U of Duchess waving and smiling. More shots of launch. C/U of Duchess - she timidly asks the crowd to give three cheers "for the men who built the ship". Despite her apparent shyness, she still smiles a lot!
