    Item title reads - The Derby 1923.

    Intertitle - 'Cold and Cheerless morning greeted early enthusiasts.' L/S as spectators tramp across the field towards the course.

    Intertitle - 'The police arrangements were perfect.' What seems like thousands of policemen line up and wait, the camera pans across them.

    Intertitle - 'Traffic was controlled by wireless from the skies.' Various shots of the site taken from above.

    Intertitle - 'Later on the weather mended.' General views of the site with bookmakers and people milling about, a coach and horses rides up crowded with people. M/S as the horses and jockeys are led past the crowds. M/S of them at starting line, they sort themselves out and begin the race.

    Intertitle - 'Follow them round Tattenham corner with our wonderful racing camera.' L/S as they round the bend, the camera follows the leaders, everything else is a blur. L/S as they race.

    Intertitle - '"Papyrus" wins and "Steve" Donoghue breaks all Derby records by riding three winners in succession!' M/S as they race up the course.

    Intertitle - 'and in slow motion.' They race up and pass the finish line. The winning horse rides through the crowds escorted by two policemen. Various shots of the enclosure.

    Intertitle - '"Come on Steve" what will you win on in 1924?' C/U of his face.
