    The American Derby won by Mr EP Witney's 'Johren'. Kentucky in the United Stats of America.

    Belmont Stakes; 1918; one of the races in the Triple Crown. Harry Payne Whitney's horse Hohren wins. Runners and riders coming out onto track. The race starts. Shot from inside rail of horses approaching; stands in BG; and behind that a big barn-like building with sloping roofs. Shot toward other direction; of horses heading away and around curve; with stables across track. Shot of horses galloping; from outside track. They run past the little tower in the middle. CU the winning horse and jockey are given flowers --3 African-American men are putting a big horseshoe of flowers around Hohren's neck and handing up a giant bouquet to the jockey; they are standing right next to stands. One of the men pats the horse on neck; turns and faces camera.

    "E P Whitney" in the title and on the top line of the body text has been misread from the title card by the cataloguer - the name is actually H P Whitney.

    "handing up a giant bouquet to the jockey" - the jockey is Frank Robinson.
