    British Instructional Film presentation.

    Tern. Tern is seen sitting on a nest. It flies off to reveal two tiny chicks and an unhatched egg. C/U of the chicks. They run away from the camera. We then see one waddling away into the distance. The mother returns and looks around for her chicks - she looks worried. One of the chicks crouches down then returns to its mother. Mother sits on the nest. Father comes along with a fish in his mouth and feeds the baby. Parents sit on the nest together watching the chick. Chick wanders around. Parents fly off. C/U of the chick.

    Plover. Top shot of nest with eggs and chicks. Closer shots of chicks. L/S of one of the parent birds running along in the rushes. Closer shot. One chick leaves the nest and walks away.

    Coot. Coot seen swimming in the rushes. C/U of coot on the nest. Various angles. C/U of baby coot emerging from an egg. Comes out very slowly. Coot nestling. Leaves nest and chick follows. C/U of chick gingerly following parent. Eventually falls off nest into the water. It swims a little then returns to nest. Another chick emerges from the egg. Two chicks sit on nest. Chicks scramble off nest into the water. Mother coot picks up the broken egg shell and takes it off in her beak. Newly born chick struggles to reach the side of the nest. Older chicks swim around in the river.
