  • Not sure of the venue of the mixed doubles match at start of film; looks like it could be one of the French Riviera tournaments held during the spring. At 1:40, the camera pans along a line of players. Player standing next to net is Betty Nuthall of GB; next but one to her is Kitty Godfree of GB and next to her is her husband, Leslie Godfree. At 3:01, two of the players are Betty Nuthall and Kitty Godfree. At 4:07, the action moves to what looks like the centre court of the Stade Francais at Saint-Cloud near Paris, in which case the tournament is the World Hard Court Championships, the forerunner of the French Open, and the action will be taking place sometime in the early 1920s. At 5:01, the player looks like Kitty Godfree. At 5:38, the man facing the camera is Bill Johnson of the US. At 5:50, the man facing the camera is Rene Lacoste of France. One of the players in the ladies doubles match at the end of the clip could be Kitty Godfree, but can't be sure as there are no close-ups of…
