    Temperance Festival.

    Location of events unknown.

Wonderful film of 1920s carnival attractions & crowds. Opens w/ shot looking over crowd toward entrances to tent shows - elaborately painted facades w/ signs to entice crowds; some built up like front of house w/ porch for barkers; ticket-sellers. Fun Show; Drama & Sentiment; Fat French Girl; Novelties; etc. Large crowd is packed tight in front of these.

Ride w/ people in hanging seats spinning around on merry-go-round ride. Another ride w/ people seated in a thing that spins while tipping from side to side - says 'Tilt-a-Whirl' (though not same ride I know by that name). Shot panning on crowd all facing camera; holding up white bags (probably not containing booze! SL). Barkers addressing crowd holding up cylinders wrapped in tissue paper. Man trying his luck at kicking ball through holes in a wall; young boy retrieves ball & carnival worker brings another. Next; a throwing game: man plays; then woman plays.

Girls coming down a curved slide; carnival worker catches them at the bottom. Nice shot w/ carousel / merry-go-round at left FG; crowds & booths. Pan on crowds; more booths. Another shot of the Tilt-a-Whirl.

Recreation; entertainment; amusement parks; fairs; fun. Festivals; carnivals.

Animals are often the forgotten army of World War I. They displayed unwavering courage even when exposed to extreme conditions. British Pathé pay tribute to these forgotten warriors.
