    Full title reads: "TELEPHONE WEEK INAUGURATED - The Acting Lord Mayor & the Postmaster-General aboard the Cable Ship "Monarch" in the Thames."


    The Acting Lord Mayor of London, Sir Kynaston Studd, walking along dock to go onboard Telephone Ship "Monarch". Several officials are accompanying him. He is received by Sir Kingsley Wood, the two men shake hands - an orchestra is seen in the background.

    Ship official and the Lord Mayor's party all shake hands before going onboard the ship. Lord Mayor getting on barge to take him onboard "Monarch".

    Several shots of the ship and the Lord Mayor going onboard. Lord Mayor inspects the crew lined up on deck. He stops to chat with some men.

    More shots of the ship, the crew, Lord Mayor's arrival etc.

    Lord Mayor reads a speech (natural sound) at his arrival to ship. He talks about the hopes for improvement of telephone service.

    Sir Kingsley Wood speaks (natural sound). He thanks he Lord Mayor on his visit and continues to speak about the future of the telephone service under reduction of charges.

    Sound disappears at (01:08:40) when the Lord Mayor enters the barge to go onboard ship and reappears at (01:10:47) when he arrives and the speeches are delivered. Footage between the two is not in chronological order and there are some repetitive shots which suggests that these are cuts (rushes). There is also a break (both sound and picture disappear) for several seconds just before the reappearance of the sound.
