Duke of Edinburgh's speech (natural sound): "We seem to have got into the habit of thinking that all our troubles are going to be solved by machinery of this sort. That if you have a lot of science in some strange way, It's going to solve everything. In fact, of course, nothing could be further from the truth, but ultimately, some poor, well I won't call him a clot (laughter) but some poor chap of which there are a great many here, has actually got to (laughter) eh, scribble a shape on a envelope and say, well I think this is going to work, now do your worst and prove that it isn't and really. Ultimately, unless we have the men, the imagination, the designers and the people who back the designers, no amount of science is ever going to give us as good aeroplanes and we want 'yes' men as well as 'no' men and we want people who can encourage, and people who can see further than the end of their noses and further than the Ministry of Supply. Vote one thing and another, because that's another thing, we're all in this together, and I noticed the Minister looking rather smug (laughter) when eh, when Mr Burrows, said that the press are sometimes unkind about the aircraft industry.
