On board the giant Cunarder R.M.S. Berengaria (courtesy of the Stage Guild) we see "something new in cabarets". M/S of the band - four or five members. High angle shot of the dance floor - many couples dance, women in short "tea dance" dresses and short bobbed haircuts, and men in black suit and tie. C/U of the band leader who holds a violin and bow and does a little dance. C/U of one of the dancing couples. C/U of dancing feet. Extreme C/U of a dancing couple who smile broadly at the camera. "A little "off-moment" for Miss Tallulah Bankhead-" who is seen dancing with a male companion in C/U. High angle shot of the dance floor with band in the background. "Some of the "creations" displayed." Five women stand on a small stage to display their ornate frocks - lots of beading and fringes. They walk down the steps towards the camera. "Ten little steppers-out - the Rodney Hudson Dancers - " A high kicking dance troupe performs on the dance floor - holiday makers sit around the edge, both at tables and on the floor. The girls wear short feathered skirts and head dresses.
"When you feel sleepy - try these wake-up exercises - !" One of the girls does some forward rolls on the dance floor. She then does them backwards - flashing her knickers. She gives a little bow at the end of her performance. "And for fiery acrobatic grace - meet Jan and Janette - " - a rough and tumble acrobatic dance follows. Tallulah is seen in C/U talking to some male companions. Janette is thrown around by Jan and their dance includes spins and throws. "In the other ballroom Dorothie Willard showed her way to suppleness - " On a smaller dance floor Dorothie performs a bizarre dance involving shuffling along the floor with her legs in the "splits", cartwheels, high kicks, and forward rolls. We see the first part of the dance in L/S then we see her in the splits in C/U. She then moves around the floor doing splits after splits! "And Jules Andre and Felicity Garratt demonstrated the Spanish Apache Dance." More rough and tumble as Felicity is thrown around by Jules. Dance involves acrobatics and a passionate embrace. "A graceful little item by Wendy Toye, (Winner of Amateur Charleston Competition, Albert Hall, London)." Shot unfortunately missing. "And so to bed --- it's dawn!" Dancers leave the ballroom chatting. L/S of the liner in port.
