I was amazed when I came across this film as I have been researching the wartime army activities of my father Sergeant Stanley King who was with the Royal Army Service Corps 486 Company in Germany at the time of the Soltau Massacre. The official war diary entry (from the records at Kew) for his company states '25th April 1945 B platoon .. saw a mass grave on the Soltau-Heber Road containing between 1500 and 2000 bodies mainly Poles and Russians. The bodies were being exhumed for decent burial by civilian men and women from Soltau - many bodies had been bleeding from nose and ears'.

This film immediately took me back to that day in April 45 and brought to life the grim spectacle that my father's company must have witnessed.
Note--there may have been only 100 or so massacred rather than the number mentioned in the war diary.

    Thank you Pathe News

Can anyone provide more information on this incident please.
