Billy Wright wins and points the way he wants to kick. GV. Massed crowd. GV. Kick off. Yugoslavia kick from right to left, wearing dark shirts and white trunks. The ball is slipped back to half back Tasic who pushes it up-field and after a tussle between two Yugoslavs and an Englishman the ball is running towards the English goal. SV. Yugoslav player is running through and shoots, but Ted Ditchburn who has left his goal smothers the shot, gets up and kicks up-field. LV. Vladimir Beara waiting in his goal. SV. Tom Finney out on the right wing with the ball. He slips it inside to Stanley Matthews. Matthews sends it across in front of the Yugoslav goal. GV. Yugoslav goal. A Yugoslav defender tries to get it away but it goes onto Johnny Haynes who sends in a scorcher which Beara makes a wonderful save to push it away wide off the post. CU. Two girls expressing misery at English bad luck. GV. England again on the move. Matthews with the ball on the right wing, and he is being challenged by Boskov. He sends ball across to Haynes. Haynes controls the ball beautifully and slips it inside the penalty area to the onrushing Johnny Brooks who slashes the ball past Beara to put England one up. GV. Cheering crowds. SV. England again attacking. Matthews with the ball being challenged by Stankovic. He pushes the ball past the oncoming Beara but a Yugoslav is there to kick a certain goal off the line. LV. Ditchburn waiting in his goal. SV. Beara carrying Haynes off the field after being injured. GV. Ball coming in towards the England goal where Hall jumps to head it clear but it goes over his head and falls at the feet of Vukas. Vukas brings it under control and makes for goal, but Ditchburn dives at his feet, saves a nasty situation and throws the ball up-field. GV. Massed crowd. Half time score - England 1, Yugoslavia 0.
GV. English goal area. Yugoslavs attacking. Toplak with the ball. He centres into the penalty area, Ditchburn jumps and holds it. SV. Ditchburn in the air holding the ball. As he comes down he is charged by an oncoming forward, but he barges him and a forward hits the deck. Ditchburn runs to clear ball up field. GV. Ditchburn running with ball, he throws it along the ground to Jimmy Dickinson who sends a long ball up-field. LV. Finney racing in on the right wing with the ball. Beats his man and pushes the ball into the goal area where Johnny Brooks and Tasic both miss their kick and it rolls on to substitute Tommy Taylor. Taylor who bangs the ball past Beara for the second goal. GV. Cheering crowd. GV. England attacking down right, Matthews with the ball being pursued by Stankovic. Matthews stops with the ball and faces Stankovic, he pushes the ball past Stankovic. Stankovic trips him in the penalty area. LV. Matthews on the ground. English players appealing while the French referee Harzic runs and points to the spot. SCU. Two boys in crowd. GV. Roger Byrne runs to take penalty kick. He kicks and Beara though having previously moved, makes a wonderful save. SCU. Despondent girls in crowd. LV. England goal area. Ball comes into centre where it is headed towards the English goal. Ditchburn takes it beautifully and starts to run up-field with the ball. SCU. Two boys in crowd. GV. England on the move down the right wing and the ball is chopped inside. LV. The ball runs through to Frank Blunston who jabs it to the waiting Taylor. Taylor slams it into the net. Pan back to happy players. Final score - England 3, Yugoslavia 0.
