    Meadow Hill, Stockport.

Various shots of women working at looms in a wool and cotton mill. One middle-aged woman relieves another at a loom. The other woman goes off shopping at the shopping centre in the works.

There are 6 stalls, selling food and household goods. Commentator explains the scheme was set up by the management because women were getting back late from lunch because of queuing at shops in the town. We see women buying vegetables, crockery, fish and cooked meat. Women look at knitting patterns and buy wool on another stall. C/U of an assistant taking coupons. C/U of a shopping basket containing a kettle, a saucepan, a bowl, some flowers and potatoes (?). General view of shopping area with women looking at the stalls.
