Title: "The SHENANDOAH - America's giant airship - triumphs in epic battle with the elements - returning safe after 8 hours adrift in violent storm".
Low angled L/S of a giant airship flying over a field. M/S of the airship hovering close to a big radio mast - it has the letters, 'ZR-1' painted on its side. Low angle shot of a man standing on a large cylinder at the top of the mast, he turns a wheel at the top to reel in a rope attached to the airship. M/S of the airship 'mooring' the top of the mast. L/S, from ground level, of the airship attached by its nose to the mast. L/S of the radio mast taken from ground level. M/S of the top of the mast.
Intertitle: "The Shenandoah had been attached to mast for 3 days in 7-day trial to test efficiency of mooring device".
M/S of the top of the mast. Flash frame of intertitle. L/S of the airship moored to the top of the mast. L/S of the moored airship from another angle.
Intertitle: "Close-ups show cables at top of mast, designed to hold ship snug and fast. (It was not cable, but nose of ship itself that gave way)".
Brief L/S of airship, flash frame of intertitle. C/U of the man reeling in the rope at the top of the mast. M/S of the nose of the airship tied to the mast.
Intertitle (flash frame): "The relief night-watch, crossing from mast to ship over aerial gangway".
L/S of men climbing out from the top of the mast, along a plank and inside the nose of the ship.
C/U of the men's feet walking down the plank into the nose of the airship.
Intertitle (flash frame): "After her 9-hour fight in darkness and storm, the Shenandoah is safely secured in hangar. Her huge bulk bears a few scars".
Panning shot along the length of the airship inside the hanger, it has the words, 'U.S. Navy' painted on it.
Intertitle: "Her crippled nose ..."
C/U of the ship's nose - the fabric around the tip has been torn, it looks slightly dented. C/U of the hole in the nose.
Intertitle (flash frame): "The rudders ..."
Various shots of the rudders - they appear to have been ripped to shreds, the internal frame is visible.
Intertitle: "The crew - who are receiving congratulations for duty well-done ..."
M/S of the crew outside the hangar, they appear to be posed for a group photograph and seem in quite high spirits. The crew comprises off officer-types in smart uniforms and less high ranking men in white caps. Note: this item seems to comprise of two versions of the same story run together, only the latter version has intertitles. The 'Shenandoah' is seen again in G 1056 - AIRSHIP'S 8 HOUR FLIGHT. AH 2000.
