  • Description

    London.

Various old fashioned antique sewing machines are demonstrated. Women sewing wear period costume (although much more make up than would have been worn at the time!). One woman wears a Victorian style outfit, another a "flapper outfit". The antique sewing machines are from a Swiss collection.

Modern sewing machine is contrasted. Good shots of women sewing. C/Us of some machine embroidery taking shape. "This machine might have frightened our Victorian grannies" states the narrator as the machine does its work. Various pieces of machine embroidery are seen in C/U.

Cuts exist - see separate record.
