    Selected originals (offcuts, selected scenes, out-takes, rushes) for story "Circus is Royal Fun" 59/102.

    Lots of extra material not used in newsreel story.

    Royal Gala Bertram Mills Circus performance at Olympia, London, opens with parade of sports personalities. Trumpeters of Household Cavalry enter circus ring on horseback. Shots of people in evening dress arriving in ring in stage coach, members of British Olympic Equestrian Teams. Donald Campbell then enters, accompanied by his operational team (men in boiler suits). Two racing driver (identities unknown) then enter in an Aston Martin car. Motor Cycle Champion, John Surtees, then enters on motorbike. The Whaddon Chase Foxhounds parade around circus ring: huntsmen on horseback, pack of dogs run around.

    Shots of circus performance. We see the following performers: Douglas Kossmayer and his Palominos and zebras, Gosta Kruse and his elephants, Schumann's High School (acrobats on horseback), big heads, clowns, the Villams jugglers, Kiki and Antonio (boxing midgets) and Atilana the tightrope artiste.

    Various shots of Princess Anne (Princess Royal) and Prince Charles (Prince of Wales) at the fairground. We see them on the dodgems and on the ghost train, they are constantly surrounded by entourage and circus officials. Various shots of Princess Margaret arriving at Olympia, a clown presents flowers to her. Great shot of Margaret walking up red carpet, passing all the circus performers: as she passes Coco he lifts up his wig - funny!
