    Selected originals (offcuts, selected scenes, out-takes, rushes) for story "President Assassinated" - 63/96.

    Various shots of the flag draped coffin on its way along road towards Capitol. M/S as Jackie Kennedy and her two children, Caroline and John Junior, get out of a car together with President and Mrs Lyndon B. Johnson. Robert Kennedy is also with them. M/S looking up into the dome of the rotunda of the Capitol. M/S flag draped coffin on the catafalque. M/S as President Johnson lays a wreath at coffin. M/S assembled dignitaries. Jackie and Caroline Kennedy walk up to the coffin, kneel and kiss it.

    Various shots during the day and into the dusk of the people queuing outside the Capitol to pay their last homage to the dead President. Inside the Capitol we see people crying as they pass the coffin. M/S American flag at half mast. M/S heavily veiled Jackie Kennedy walking with Robert and Edward Kennedy at the head of the procession of well known heads of state from all over the world. M/S crowd of well known people following, seen are General Charles de Gaulle, Queen Frederika, King Baudouin, Chancellor Ludwig Erhard and Haile Selassie. Elevated shot of funeral procession going past. L/S as coffin is taken off carriage outside St. Matthew's cathedral. Interior of the cathedral as Jackie and family walk up the aisle followed by heads of state. Various shots of General de Gaulle, King Baudouin, Queen Frederika, Haile Selassie, Chancellor Erhard and Mr Mikoyan in the Cathedral. M/S as coffin is carried up aisle towards altar past Dean Rusk. M/S Cardinal Cushing at altar, pan to coffin. C/U crucifix on altar. L/S people assembled. L/S as Cardinal Cushing starts the service.

    Rest of the footage is the same as the cut story but with some natural sound.

24 January 2015 marks 50 years since the death of British Prime Minister and international statesman, Sir Winston Churchill. British Pathé’s cameras followed Churchill throughout his career.
