CU Liverpool and Scunthorpe United Captains at centre with ref. for toss-up. GV Massed crowd. LV Scunthorpe Utd kicking off, ball goes into Liverpool penalty area. CU Players in Liverpool penalty area, Underwood (or is it Younger?) jumps to collect ball but fumbles it and ball goes to Marriott, who passes to forward ball runs loose and ball is cleared by Marshall. GV Waldock chasing ball down wing he centres and Eric Davis kicks ball wide. CU Men in crowd making gestures of horror. GV A A'Court racing down 1. wing with Brownsword close on his heels, Jones centres and ball goes right across goal-mouth a Liverpool forward races for it but he slips and ball goes to Liverpool man. CU Man in crowd with bugle and hat with words "Up the 'Pool!" GV Liverpool attacking with Marshall close at the heels of Liverpool forward, CU Woman in crowd shouting. GV Liverpool attacking, ball is kicked goalwards it beats goalkeeper Hardwick but runs behind goal for goal kick. CU Crowd cheering. Half-time score Scunthorpe 0 - Liverpool 0.

LV Liverpool kicking off for 2nd half, ball is taken into Scunthorpe half and passed to the Liverpool left wing. GV Murdoch makes a good drive into the Scunthorpe goal. Liverpool players run to congratulate each other while the Scunthorpe players walk toward the centre. Score Scunthorpe 0 - Liverpool 1. CU Man with "Up the 'Pool" hat. GV Massed crowd waving and shouting. GV Scunthorpe staging an attack on the right wing, Marriott centres, Jones and Moran go up for ball, Jones beats Moran and heads towards goal, Underwood collects ball and throws up-field. GV Ball going towards Waldock, Waldock takes ball into penalty area and shoots for goal, but ball goes over crossbar. CU Cheering crowd GV Murdoch running with ball, he kicks ball goalwards, Hardwick dives full length partially clears, but the ball is kicked back and soars over the bar. (Neg.)
