    Barnham Village, Sussex.

M/S of a group of children operating radio transmitting equipment. C/U shot of the sign on the wall reading "Barnham Broadcasting Corporation". First letters of each word are written in red ink forming BBC! C/U shot of a young boy with headphones on, holding a microphone in his hand. Cut to another boy with headphones on. He is somewhere outdoors. C/U shot of the boy's face. Several descriptive shots: aerial, a girl, cows, field...

In the Barnham Village school, children have their own broadcasting station. They are encouraged and helped by the school master Mr H. S. Hooten but the station is run by pupils. L/S of a large group of children sitting under the tree ready to listen to the radio. Loudspeaker is placed on the table in front of them. A teacher tells the children that they are about to hear the reporter interviewing a farmer. C/U shot of another loudspeaker in the classroom. Several shots of the children, indoors and outdoors.

Several shots of the children in the broadcasting station getting ready for transmission. Several shots of a boy and a girl interviewing Mr Forse (sp?), the farmer. Children on the other side listen and make notes. Children ask the farmer general question about farming. He is very co-operative (and very patronising) 'old boy' with Eton accent. It is difficult to picture him working as farmer. It is equally difficult to believe that children are interested in interviewing him.

Note: The incredible pressure of conservatism of the 50's can be detected throughout the film. The idea of "encouraging original thought and written work" which, according to the schoolmaster, initiated creation of the broadcasting unit, is totally missed. Some of the children featured in the film are Keith Newman, Michelle Delacour and Millar.
