Title: Richmond, Surrey. 'SALUTE THE SOLDIER' WEEK

The Lord Mayor, Councilor P.V. Major (Justice of the Peace) is introduced by a master of ceremonies. Both men are in full ceremonial robes.

The lord Mayor speaks to camera: He appeals for people pay homage, and to demonstrate and proclaim his/her deep gratitude for our brave soldiers. To do this we must save to the very limit of our resources and lend to the government, thereby ensuring that our soldiers are equipped & maintained to a standard never before excelled. The viewer if urged to restrict spending to a minimum, to increase savings in order to make a fuller contribution towards early and final victory. Practice thrift and serve your country. The campaign running from 10-17 June needs to raise a minimum of £400,000. The Mayor hopes that they will break all records. Richmond is ever in the vanguard. He knows that the public response will be to the lasting credit of Richmond. See that all you're available monies go into savings. Salute the soldier!. Thank you.
