    Medway, Kent and Leatherhead, Surrey.

    C/U shot of hand holding a girder, then hands crossing over, and a man's feet on the girders. It's a long way down to the ground. M/S booted feet searching for footholds on the girder. There are various shots of the man climbing about the scaffolding, he stops to tie a rope, and then fixes a hook attached to his body belt harness. The construction work is for the Medway Bridge. He makes sure of his footing on a wire. L/S of the ground below.

    At Leatherhead, men are at work on an electricity pylon. M/S from ground of a man climbing up the pylon. There are various shots of him on the structure. He reaches out and grabs the safety pulley and fixes it behind him to his body belt. He now has his hands free to work and move about. High angle shot of two men on the ground heaving on rope to pull up insulator part.

    Low angle of pylon and the men waiting to pull it into position. He relies on the harness as he stands on the insulator. C/U shot of the insulator coils and his wellington boot as his foot slips. M/S from above of the man as he falls, but is held in mid air by the harness. Low angle shot of the man hanging in space from the pylon, and as he swings across to the structure .

    The men working at these heights are called 'spidermen'.
