    Glove making at home.

Pathe offer to send women a paper pattern for gloves in return for a "stamped envelope". Intertitle reads: "Glove making at home may seem a perilous venture, but it's simple and economical. A wash leather - a paper pattern (which we'll send you for a stamped envelope) or an old glove for a model are required." A woman draws around a pattern. She then cuts the leather. Intertitle reads: "If Adam's away, his razor cuts quite nicely - but don't tell him we told you!". The gloves are hand sewn. The side of the leather is cut to make a fringe. The finished glove is shown to the camera. Lovely!

Safety print exists - show print. Probably to be found on the "Friends of Fashion" roll.

10 telling images selected from British Pathé's extensive WWI footage. 'The war to end all wars' was a war without parallel: over 70 million military personnel were involved and over 17 million people died.

Verbal warfare at its best. Here are some of history's greatest retorts and snarling insults. These people certainly didn't mince their words!
