    Australian society wedding.

Australian newsreel titles read: 'Canberra, ACT - ROYALTY ATTENDS WEDDING'.

Various shots of guests arriving at a church for the marriage of the Viscountess of Clive (and first lady-in-waiting to the Duchess of Gloucester) to Brigadier Derek Schreiber, Chief of Staff to Australia's Royal Governor General. Crowds line the route to the church to see the international society folk arrive.

The bridegroom arrives with his best man, Sir Willoughby Norrie, Governor General of South Australia. Both are in uniform. The small daughter of the bride arrives with her governess - she is flower girl at the ceremony. Prince William, bride's pageboy arrives with the Duchess of Gloucester (Princess Alice). The bride arrives, wearing a light-coloured day dress and flowered hat. She is accompanied by the Duke of Gloucester (Prince Henry) and they walk into the church.

Shots of the couple leaving the church after the ceremony. They pose with their flower girl and pageboy then make their way to Government House for their reception. Guests line the pathway as they walk to their car.

Cut to the aerodrome as the newlywed, both now wearing suits, are to board a plane for their honeymoon. Prince William and the Duchess are seen getting out of a car at the aerodrome.

Although this clip is dated 1946, the wedding actually took place on 24 October 1945, as this original newspaper photo will confirm.....

The location is St John's Church, Canberra.

"Viscountess of Clive" should read simply Viscountess Clive.

"They pose with their flower girl" - this is the bridesmaid, her name is Davina, Baroness Darcy de Knayth.
