  • Description

    Essex.

An item about the Royal Signals motorbike display team.

Low angle shot of a motorbike jumping over the camera. Various L/Ss of motorcyclists passing each other as they jump over ramps. C/U of display team members. Various shots of the team riding past each other in formation at great speeds. C/U of young army cadets watching. M/S of a riderless motorbike weaving past the crowd. Various point of view shots from a camera attached to the runaway bike. Eventually a rider jumps on the moving bike.

M/S of lots of riders in the classic pyramid formation on one bike. More C/Us of cadets in the audience. M/S of a pyramid stunt on a line of six bikes. A man drives a motorised ramp towards another man on a motorbike - instead of colliding the motorbike jumps off the ramp. C/U of an officer in a crash helmet shouting (probably officer commanding the team - Captain H. Taylor. A straw arch is set alight. C/U of a booted foot starting a motorbike engine. L/S of a motorbike jumping through the burning hoop.

According to the narrator, all the stories in this issue were also supposedly filmed at the 1962 Royal Tournament - this is confusing as paperwork suggest they were filmed at different locations...

(I think the idea is that this is Pathe's version of an outdoor Royal Tournament, with contributions from around the country - SL.) There is much documentation on file.

Cuts exist - see separate record.
