In the RAF Institute of Aviation Medicine at Farnborough, scientists are conducting research on the effects of flying on eyes and organs of balance. M/S of a man lying inside a complex construction. He is tied to the machine with belts and he puts his hands into large pockets. This is Multi Planar Rotating Device. "It simulates an aircraft in flight, and examines the effects on the pilot's eyes with both camera and measuring instruments..."
M/S of scientist rotating the pilot along with the machine on left and then on right. He, then starts the machine which spins in all possible directions. M/S of another man looking at large round monitor with several buttons around it. Monitor starts showing some signals. The Man observes the signals until machine stops. M/S of the pilot getting off the machine. C/U shot of the pilot taking wires off his face. Voiceover explains the testing procedure and organs involved.
"Research into the general problems associated with balance have been going on for hundreds of years. But flying and the entry of the Space era with its new gravity conditions, bring a fresh challenge to the men from Farnborough" - concludes voiceover.
