    Various shots of huge aircraft carrier HMS Eagle with workers doing finishing touches on the carrier before the launching ceremony. Men are seen removing props and greasing slipway prior to launching.

    Several shots of Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) in a barge - she is there to launch HMS Eagle. She leaves the barge and gets onboard a ship where she is greeted by naval officers. Various shots of the aircraft carrier moving backwards along slipway and plunging into water. Various shots of the aircraft carrier with flag flying on deck.

    Huge crowd is seen around a car with Princess Elizabeth and woman escort entering car. Car trying to move off, which almost seems impossible with masses of people surrounding it. Police pushing the crowd back to make way for the royal car.

    Princess Elizabeth shaking hands with line of dignitaries. Aircraft carrier moving down slipway. Princess arrives in car and inspects the guard of honour. She is accompanied by Mayor of Belfast.
