    Prince of Wales visits USA (United States of America).

    Prince of Wales (future Edward VIII and Duke of Windsor) on royal tour of United States of America; 1924 ? CU HRH. Shots from plane flying round passenger liner Berengaria (former German ship Imperator); carrying HRH. LS Journalists & photographers (most wearing boaters) climbing aboard from small ship. Newsmen climb through companionway & up rope ladder. Wide shot people exit to smaller ship alongside the liner. Next; still another ship w/ HRH on deck. In England: cars drive through crowd/ MS women look through fence.

    HRH mounting horse; riding w/ cowboys; then playing golf. Shots from ticker-tape parade for HRH on USA trip 3 years earlier. HRH exits bldg. w/ US VIPs. CU HRH & ? in car Back to current visit: HRH & a few others on boat; they walk up ramp to pier; are met by couple. LS HRH & woman walking on pier; others follow. Aerial shot of white palace- -Burden Estate at Syosset; Long Island; where HRH will visit. CU Miss Leonora Cahill from St. Louis; who danced w/ HRH on ship. Horse racing at Belmont. shot from high; horses walk past on track. Shot from above of huge crowd milling about. Bunch of guys incl. HRH walking.

    Polo match at Meadow Brook; New York: USA: Americans beat Brits 16-5. Aerial shots; many cars parked near; big square field w/ stands on 2 opposite sides. HRH & group of men walk past stands. US team walk onto field; single file; riders leading ponies. Much good footage of match in progress. Then slow motion shots. LS HRH & party walking. Next; US wins another game; making them winners of Hurlingham Cup. Special effect shot looking through crossed US & British flags w/ polo field seen in triangle between. CU trophy (held up by elderly man). Scenes from match (inside oval frame). Riders changing ponies.

    HRH drinks from America's giant trophy cup. CU HRH smoking w/ cigarette holder & talking to another man. Next; excellent quality - -mint!- -shots of crowd packed like sardines along lower Broadway pushing & craning their necks trying to catch a glimpse of the Prince. Crowded streetcar (trolley; tram) passes w/ people clinging to outside & leaning out windows. Closer shot crowd - -looks very uncomfortable. Pan down building w/ people looking out windows. Tracking shot moving down street More crowd shots. Finally shot of HRH's car squeezing through crowd. Mob surges uncontrollably- -looks a bit scary!

24 January 2015 marks 50 years since the death of British Prime Minister and international statesman, Sir Winston Churchill. British Pathé’s cameras followed Churchill throughout his career.
