Prince of Wales in Canada.

Prince of Wales (future Edward VIII & Duke of Windsor) visiting Canada; 1919. Prince arriving at Charlottetown; Prince Edward Island; he is greeted on dock by the Lieut. Governor & the Premier of the Province. MS 2 men (1 civilian/1 military) place a small Royal Standard in corner of car window. Prince & others getting into car. MS Prince & one of the Canadian officials seated in car. Group of Native Americans (Indians)of Micmac tribe - -a family? CU chief and his wife. Chief and others meeting Prince. Prince's car leaving. Shot of unidentified flag blowing. Prince inspecting World War One veterans; stops & talks w/ one man. Prince planting tree at a government experimental farm.

MS Prince w/ Captain Clarke; farm superintendent. Horse racing: shot looking up at Prince & others in box. Race of horses pulling carts Dramatic shot of grandstand on fire: flames seen coming from back; large crowd scrambling out of the stands; handing children down; etc. (Prince was seated elsewhere; in judges' stand; safe from disaster.) Next; Prince arrives at Quebec; people lined up on long pier. Wide shot from high place of ship w/ smoke coming from its guns as it fires salute; pan left to row of cannons firing return salute at citadel along wall overlooking water. MS Canadian Army man at citadel looking through binoculars; pan rt. to ship again. Prince inspects guard of honour on King's Wharf. MCU Prince in car w/ others; he salutes as car goes by a few feet from camera.

People walking across park in toward camera. Prince places wreath on Wolfe monument. Next; Prince and the Duchess of Devonshire walking toward automobile. MS Prince & Duchess in back of car. Prince exiting Ursuline convent followed by priest and assorted others. Next; he lays wreath at Champlain Monument; shots of Prince & Army officers at this event. Pan on Chateau Frontenac; like medieval castle.

MS Prince w/ several men; incl. engineer who finished Great Quebec Bridge (over St. Lawrence River); they seem to be on bridge; Prince looking over side. MS Prince yanks on a string or ribbon. CU Union Jack hanging against part of bridge falls away to reveal a plaque mounted there. Prince w/ engineer & a few others cross this train bridge on flat car; filmed from front of the moving flatcar; looking back at the men; w/ criss crossing supports going by overhead. Diag. shot of bridge. Front of locomotive; w/ 2 railroad workers standing on it; this is Canadian Pacific Special Royal Train.

CU same men; the engineer & fireman. MCU Chief Steward & chef stage discussion about menu. MCU porter (a black guy) uses whisk broom to dust off his own hat; then royal emblem on side of train. Prince says goodbye to a few people then boards train. He wears civilian clothes for first time on trip.

Huge veterans' rally in Toronto; Ontario: Prince and Army officers on platform; large crowd cheering below; Prince waves hat. Elderly veteran w/ several medals; along w/ his family (?) poses in front of rows of younger vets. CU side view Prince speaking. Group of women in uniforms wave excitedly. Prince shaking hands w/ veterans & their wives. Prince arrives at Toronto Exhibition. Shot from just behind his back as he makes speech to a large crowd to open the exhibition. He salutes; crowd wave hats. Prince makes another speech on platform under awning.

Rows of little girls in white dresses stand on risers; waving flags. Meeting someone. Row of soldiers in front of masses of people in park. Prince & party arrive at horse races; climb steps; Boy Scout salutes; shows them to Royal Box; w/ posh cushy chairs. Prince is returning salutes from guys off screen. Brief shot of cart race. Prince at Royal Canadian Yacht Club on Lake Ontario. He & a bunch of guys walk on bridge from boats. MS Prince presents club w/ a big silver trophy- -the Prince of Wales Cup. Shots of Toronto upper class society at Yacht Club party. Crowd mingling on lawn in tent; several people floating in rowboats (actually these might be crashers!) British royalty; military.
